Each year, thousands of young track and field athletes across the nation compete in district and regional meets sactioned by AAU and USATF, hope to add the title of Junior Olympian to their amateur resume. Amber Brown and Autumn Farrow fought through fierce competition and weather conditions this past weekend to punch their tickets to the 2025 AAU & USATF Junior Olympics!
This weekend at the USATF Regionals in Fayetteville, NC, 2025 Indoor All-American Amber Brown dominated the 13/14 girls division — qualifying for the 2025 USATF Junior Olympics in ALL FOUR of her events: 100m, 200m, 400m, and Long Jump! She placed 2nd in Long Jump and 5th in the 100m. After moving through the qualifying rounds on Friday & Saturday in all of her sprinting events (Top 8 qualify), Amber’s faced one of the toughest test of her young career by having to compete in Long Jump, as well as 3 seperate sprint finals in one day! Amber got things started in the morning by a few comfortable 16ft jumps in the qualify rounds of 13/14 Girls Long Jump, grabbing the 2nd for the final round. But before finals began, she was pulled away to compete in the 100m 13/14 Girls Final. The race was marred by several false starts from numerous athletes, but when the race finally started clean and the dust settled, Amber ran a courageous 13.04 (quarter second off her PR) to secure a 5th place finished and a medal (top 5 finishers are awarded medals at USATF regional events).
After a brief 10 minute rest, it was right back to the sand pit for the 13/14 Girls Long Jump final, and Amber did not disappoint, unleashing a 16′-8.75″ jump in her first attempt to take the lead, which held until the very last competitor jumped a 16′-11.00″. In a conversation with afterwards with longtime track and field coach at Hugh M. Cummings High School Donald “Donnie” Davis, Amber said, “I’m happy with my performance today and how I was able to bring out a big jump when I need it most.” Coach Davis commended Amber for her positive attitude and outlook on the competition. Amber finished her day by competing in the 400m and 200m 13/14 Girl finals, posting some respectable times of 1.02.21 and 26.80.
Meanwhile, at the AAU Regionals in Monroe, NC, SUPA TC’s 9-year-old powerhouse Autumn Farrow entered the competition as the No. 1 ranked 9 year old girls long jumper in the state of NC, thanks to her first place finish at Districts a few weeks earlier. She got her weekend started with a great PR in the 100m prelim, but missed the final by 2 spots. She had a similar result in 200m (same 10th place finish, minus the PR), but saved her best result for the sand pit, taking 3rd in Long Jump and securing her spot in the 2025 AAU Junior Olympics in Humble, TX! Coach Brown said, “I wish I could have been there to coach and encourage her. Long Jump is such a technical event, and for her to still grab a bronze medal is amazing! She is definitely a future All-American.”
Both young ladies have decisions to make about the rest of their season, as each have qualified for Junior Olympics, which is something most kids never qualify for.
We are SUPA PROUD of these fierce young athletes and all their hard work, dedication, and heart. Their journey to the Junior Olympics continues!
